Teachers' Union President Challenges UC Regents "Financial Emergency"

One person who’s been thinking deeply about budget cuts to higher education is Bob Samuels.  He’s a writing teacher at UCLA and president of the University Council, a teachers union. It represents more than 4 thousand lecturers and librarians employed by the UC system.  In his work as union rep, Samuels has crunched the numbers on how the UC system is being run, and why it’s in the hole it finds itself in now.  Samuels has been touring the state, speaking at different campuses, and he dropped by KALW while in San Francisco.  KALW’s Ben Trefny asked him about the current state of the UC’s finances.
