If you paid close attention to this year’s list of Oscar nominees, you might have noticed that one team hailed almost entirely from the Bay Area and almost took the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

The film is “The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers.” It has a storyline that sounds more like a spy thriller than real life.

Daniel Ellsberg, who’s 78, is the focus of the film. Ellsberg now resides in Berkeley, and the film was made by Bay Area filmmakers, Judith Ehrlich and Rick Goldsmith.

KALW’s Martina Castro spoke with Judith Ehrlich recently and asked her to paint a picture of Ellsberg before he became the so-called "most dangerous man in America."

If you want to see the film, it is screening now in Berkeley, San Francisco, and San Rafael.
