At the Oakland Museum of California, guest curator Jaime Cortez invited artists to take a contemporary approach to the Day of the Dead.

In this web exclusive, hear artist Ana Teresa Fernandez talk about her modern take on the ofrenda, or altar, which was inspired by the children orphaned by the murders of women in Juarez.

You can also hear artist Tino Rodriguez talk about his piece titled "Eternal Lovers," an ofrenda for those who want to remember a past love or a distant loved one.

You can visit the "Vivo: Days of the Dead 2010" exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California until December 5.
