Web Exclusive: SF mayoral candidate Dennis Herrera
Sixteen candidates are vying for the position of mayor of San Francisco, and KALW News is talking extensively with every candidate, including City Attorney Dennis Herrera.
Originally from Long Island, Herrera made his way to San Francisco in the late-‘80s after earning a maritime law degree at George Washington University. His career in city government began in seriousness in the mid-‘90s, when then-Mayor Willie Brown appointed him as an official on the transportation commission. Now in his third term as city attorney, Herrera is most noted for his support of gay marriage and gang injunctions.
In this extended interview, Herrera elaborates on both those matters, as well as his political experience and platform.
This is the eighth of KALW News’ San Francisco mayoral candidate interviews. Find all of the candidate Q&As here.
