Web Exclusive: SF mayoral candidate Emil Lawrence
The 16 candidates running for mayor of San Francisco have different perspectives on the city – many of which are informed by their experience in government. But one perspective that only one candidate has comes directly from the streets.
Emil Lawrence is a San Francisco taxi driver, whose claim to fame is a widely-read newspaper column, “Night Cabbie” that ran from 1996 to 2004. Lawrence’s priorities for San Francisco include trimming white-collar jobs in city government, dismantling and reorganizing Muni, and developing a waste-to-fuel industry. In this extended interview, Lawrence elaborates on his platform, and why he thinks he should be mayor.
