Exclusive KALW Interview with CA Legislative Analyst on Governor's numbers

Yesterday on KALW's Crosscurrents, we heard from Steve Boilard, Director of Higher Education for the Legislative Analyst's Office. Boilard says contrary to the governor's State of the State speech on January 6th, in which he said the state spends more on prisons than on higher education, Biolard says California actually spends 17% more of its general fund dollars on higher education than on prisons.
The Governor has sent a draft of his proposed constitutional amendment to the state legislature. If approved by the voters, it would require reductions in spending on state corrections with corresponding increases in spending on public universities.
Today, the Legislative Analyst's Office issued a report Boilard authored recommending the legislature reject the governor's proposed constitutional amendment. You can hear education reporter Nancy Mullane's complete interview with Steve Boilard here.
