Psychiatrist Anne Fleming on Suicide and the Golden Gate Bridge
The famous San Francisco landmark - the Golden Gate Bridge - has made the cover of October’s edition of the American Journal of Psychiatry. It was the first time an academic clinical case conference was published on Golden Gate Bridge suicides in the journal. It states our iconic bridge is the number one suicide site in the world. The study’s authors took on a number of questions - who jumps, why they jump, and why they do it off of the Golden Gate Bridge. KALW’s Hana Baba sat down with one of the authors - UCSF psychiatrist Anne Fleming - in her office at San Francisco General Hospital.
