Single army mom forced to give up her baby.

It’s still not clear what President Obama’s strategy is going to be in Afghanistan, but one thing IS clear, the United States Army is deploying more troops all the time. Today, 270,000 military are deployed around the world in the government’s war on terror – 190,000 are boots on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This past week, a brigade of soldiers left Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia for Afghanistan. One young soldier in the brigade refused to go. The single mother from Oakland told her commanding officers she didn’t have anyone to take care of her 10 month-old baby.
According to an Army Spokesperson in the Pentagon, This soldier is one of more than 85,000 single and divorced parents in the Army dealing with long-term child care issues. Nancy Mullane has her story.
