In SoMA, an oasis for girls who have lost their childhood

After 15 years of decline, teen pregnancy is on the rise again. That’s according to the Centers for disease control and prevention. And in California, two thirds of teens who become pregnant are Latina. Sex education can help. But, preventing unwanted pregnancies is just one aspect of living a fulfilling life. So Oasis for Girls is taking a broader approach. It’s a center based in San Francisco’s SoMA district, and it runs after school programs to empower young women and encourage them to reach their potential. KALW’s Roisin Hunt visited the Center and has the story.
