Arts/Culture/Weekend: celebrating independent film and beer

If you're looking for something to do between sleep and the Super Bowl this Sunday, then there are a number of festivals that are offering up independent films and parties galore to keep you entertained.
We gave you a heads up about the San Francisco Ocean Film Festival earlier this week, which is running through the end of Sunday. And yesterday we aired an interview with SF Indie Fest founder and director Jeff Ross about the stand out films in this year's festival, which kicked off last night and runs through February 18th. (You can go directly to the SF Indie Fest website to find out about the parties that go along with those films, or maybe the films that go along with the parties, depending on your disposition.)
Then for the beer-lovers, it turns out today is the beginning of SF Beer Week, sponsored by the SF Brewers Guild and the top local brewing companies of the Bay Area. But SF Beer Week is about more than just San Francisco, and it's actually a little over a week. Comprised of over 200 formal events, the festival stretches from Healdsburg to Santa Cruz, and many are free.
So here's to the end of a long week, and to the glittering hope of the underdog -- Go Saints!!
